Sun Valley Man Found Guilty of Molestations
A 24-year-old unemployed construction worker was found guilty Thursday of sexually molesting his two nieces while they were visiting his mother’s Sun Valley house, where he lived.
After a three-hour non-jury trial Wednesday in San Fernando Superior Court, Judge Dana Senit Henry found Kenneth Alty guilty of three counts of child molesting and one count of oral copulation.
During the trial, the two girls, who are cousins, testified that Alty molested them on separate occasions four years apart.
The older girl said Alty molested her in 1980, when she was 8. The younger girl said Alty molested her in September, 1984, when she was 7.
Alty, who had been free on $30,000 bail pending the verdict, was immediately taken into custody. He will be sentenced Oct. 7. He faces a maximum penalty of 12 to 16 years in prison.
