Anaheim-based Certron Corp., which manufactures floppy disks and distributes audio recording tapes and blank video cassettes for the consumer market, reported a net loss of $17,000 for its third quarter ended July 31, compared to a loss of $13,000 for the same period a year earlier. Sales also declined to $6.5 million from $6.7 million in the year-earlier quarter.

For the nine months ended July 31, 1985, Certron posted a loss of $224,000 compared to net income of $144,000 for the same period in 1984. Sales were $18.9 million down from $20.7 million.

Earlier this year, Certron discontinued manufacturing tapes at its Anaheim location and began buying its products in the Far East for less money. The company expects to sell the last of its $440,000 worth of inventory and equipment by Oct. 31, the end of its fiscal year.
