Pertron Controls has appointed Charles H. Black to the newly created position of vice chairman. Black, 59, recently retired from Kaiser Steel in Fontana, where he was executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Black’s responsibilities at Pertron include finding new sources of capital for the 10-year-old, privately held company, according to Walt Strasser, a company spokesman.

Pertron, based in Chatsworth, manufactures programmable welding controls used to assemble aircraft engines, automobile parts and refrigerators.
