An amateur photographer shot a series of pictures as an assailant dragged a bleeding man he had just stabbed to the edge of the Miami River and dumped him in, police said today.

As the anonymous photographer, who was too far away to intervene, helped police locate and identify the attacker, another passer-by saw the victim in the river, jumped in and pulled him out.

Boris Shevchuc, 48, was arrested and charged with attempted murder. The victim, Pedro Rivero, 38, was in serious condition today in Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The two men allegedly were arguing Monday evening when Shevchuc pulled a large butcher knife and slit open Rivero’s stomach.

The photographs show Rivero being pulled to the side of the Southwest First Street bridge and dumped into the river.

Police said the photographer was on the roof of a building.
