Hamilton Jordan, White House chief of staff under former President Jimmy Carter, has been hospitalized here with lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph system, authorities said Friday night.

Jordan, 40, was admitted to Emory University Hospital for tests Wednesday, spokeswoman Sylvia Wrobel said.

“The tests have been completed, and he’s been given a diagnosis of having lymphoma, with a good prognosis,” she said.

Jordan was in satisfactory condition and was resting comfortably, visiting with family, Wrobel said.
