Superior Industries, the Van Nuys manufacturer of wheel rims for auto makers, has received a major order from the Ford Motor Co. that should add $10 million to $15 million to the company’s annual sales. Superior’s sales for 1984 were about $112 million.

The contract is for cast-aluminum road wheels for the 1986 Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz models. Superior is the exclusive supplier of the optional sporty wheels for the cars, and the order represents increased demand anticipated by Ford, according to Craig Long, a spokesman for Superior.

Superior employs 1,200 at its Van Nuys plant. The company also has a production plant near Toronto.
