Peru’s top military leader resigned at the request of President Alan Garcia, who accused the military command of having maintained a “policy of disinformation” in the five-year-old war against Maoist guerrillas. Air force Gen. Cesar Enrico Praelli, head of the command, will be replaced by Gen. Luis Abram, also of the air force.
