Five thousand hourly workers walked off their jobs at General Dynamics Corp. plants in three states, virtually halting construction of the M1 and M1A1 tanks for the Army, officials said. The strike over wages began at the company’s largest tank assembly plant, at Lima, Ohio, and at operations in Scranton, Pa., and in the Detroit suburbs of Warren, Sterling Heights and Center Line.
