Submarine, Tanker Collide Off S. Korea
From Reuters
TOKYO —
U.S. Navy divers Thursday untangled the U.S. submarine Darter from the anchor chain of a tanker after a collision off the South Korean port of Pusan. Nobody was injured in the accident.
The Darter was at periscope depth Wednesday when it collided with the 55,000-ton Bahamian-registered Kansas Getty, which was at anchor. The Darter suffered some damage, the Navy said, and set out under escort for repairs at Sasebo, Japan. The tanker apparently was undamaged.
