Signatures Assure Recall Election

Share

The Los Angeles County registrar of voters has validated enough signatures to require the Charter Oak Unified School District to set a date for a recall election for district school board directors Carol Cherry and Ann Hall. Cherry and Hall, proponents of an already approved district reorganization plan, have become the focus of continuing community opposition to the proposal.

Of roughly 4,000 recall signatures submitted by district residents last month, the registrar validated 3,538 signatures for Cherry and 3,536 for Hall. More than the 3,266 signatures, or 20% of the district’s 16,330 registered voters, are required by the district for a recall election. The county requires that the district’s board of directors set a date for an election within 80 to 125 days.
