Phase 1 of the $200-million University Corporate Center, which is being jointly developed in Pomona by the Macklin Cos. and Phil Four Twelve (a Howard Ahmanson Jr. company), will mark its opening on Oct. 2.

More than 500 invited guests are expected to attend a luncheon at the center, which is being built on a 50-acre site on South Campus Drive, ringed by the San Bernardino, Orange and Foothill freeways and the Corona Expressway.

Phase 1 consists of two buildings totaling 147,715 square feet, now available for lease, on 8.4 acres. When completed, University Corporate Center will include 1.4 million square feet of office and research-and-development space in eight buildings. Completion is anticipated in 1990.
