MIAMI —
More than 100 Haitians who paid $1,000 each to be smuggled into the United States were found today aboard a disabled freighter floating near the Coast Guard base on Miami Beach, officials said.
The Haitians--81 men, 27 women and 2 children--along with one Jamaican male, were taken to a detention center south of Miami, officials said. They said the aliens had departed from Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Saturday night.
