General Motors said the money will go to modernize its metal fabrication plant in Grand Rapids, Mich., and expand it by 125,000 square feet. The project will take five years. The plant, which is operated by GM’s Chevrolet-Pontiac-Canada group, will also get 16 new presses. A $39-million improvement in the plant’s tool room is just being completed, GM said.
