The first $100,000 in proceeds from last week’s FarmAid benefit concert will go to hungry farm families in 17 states, spokesmen for the group in Washington announced. A spokeswoman for the New York-based National Council of Churches, chosen to distribute the proceeds, named 12 charity organizations across the nation that will disburse the funds to beneficiaries in their regions. The FarmAid organizers stipulated that all of the $100,000 be used to supply food to the families chosen by the local charities.
