Favored Sabrina Mar had problems with her balance beam routine but came through in her final event, the floor exercise, to win the U.S. World Team trials with a combined all-around score of 74.86 at St. Paul, Minn.

“I feel great about winning,” the 15-year-old from Monterey Park said Saturday after the optionals finals at the St. Paul Civic Center. “I felt a little shaky on the balance beam, and it cost me. But I knew I needed a 9.5 on the floor, and I went for it.”

Mar, a member of the Southern California Acro team, managed only a 9.1 for her beam routine, but sailed through her floor exercise with a 9.7 to edge Kelly Garrison, 17, of Altus, Okla., who finished second in the all-around at 74.66.
