The Federal Communications Commission let stand a request by AT&T; that it increase its charge, effective today, from 50 cents after the FCC approved higher directory-assistance fees levied against it by the local phone companies that actually answer the queries and bill AT&T; for the service. AT&T; will continue to provide two long-distance directory-assistance calls a month to customers who make two regular interstate calls over its network.
