Garden Grove : Autopsy Inconclusive on Unidentified Girl

Share

Police on Monday still had not identified a teen-age girl whose body was discovered Sunday evening lying against a fence separating the Bridge Creek Business Complex from the Garden Grove Freeway, police said.

An autopsy performed Monday morning was inconclusive, and investigators are hoping that toxicology tests will reveal what caused her death, Garden Grove Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said.

“There were some signs of trauma on the girl’s body,” Beauchamp said, “but nothing significant enough that it would cause her death.”

The girl, who apparently was 15 to 17 years old and carried no identification, was discovered at about 6 p.m. Sunday by a man walking through a parking lot of the business complex at 12882 Valley View St., Garden Grove.

Beauchamp said the girl may have died elsewhere and her body may have been dumped at the scene. She had been dead several hours when she was discovered, he said. There was no indication of sexual molestation, the sergeant said.

The victim was 5-feet, 1-inch tall, weighed 98 pounds and had brown hair and eyes. On her left shoulder is a tattoo of a winged unicorn with a rising sun in the background. Her fingernails had been severely chewed and her hair was worn in a single braid. She wore a gray sweat shirt and purple sweat pants. She wore a yellow metal ring on the middle finger of her left hand.

Beauchamp said investigators are asking that anyone who might know the girl’s identity call them at (714) 638-6615.
