TV Action Series Writer James Doherty, 64, Dies
James Doherty, a retired Air Force sergeant who started writing for TV as a technical adviser on the war series “Twelve O’Clock High,” is dead of leukemia.
He was 64 and died Friday in Auburn, Wash.
From that 1964-67 series, Doherty moved to Jack Webb’s “Dragnet” and “Adam 12” shows as writer-producer. His other credits over the years included “Ironside” “Barbary Coast,” “Petrocelli,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “The Blue Knight” and “CHiPS.”
He is survived by his wife, Carlene, a daughter, and two granddaughters.
