Arthur Krams; Set Designer

Arthur Krams, an Academy Award-winning set designer and well-known Los Angeles decorator, died Sundayin the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills. He was 73 and had been suffering from uremia for some time, a hospital spokesman said.

Besides winning an Oscar for “The Rose Tattoo” in 1955, he was nominated five other times: for “The Merry Widow,” “Lili,” “Visit to a Small Planet,” “Summer and Smoke” and a career nomination in 1959.

Krams, who helped redecorate Mary Pickford’s famous Pickfair estate after the late actress’ marriage to actor Charles (Buddy) Rogers, is survived by five nieces and nephews.
