Regional Winners Set for Partner Race Nov. 2

David and Mary Kay Branch of Greenville, S.C., recently won the Washington, D.C., regionals to qualify for the Foot Lockers Partners National Championship race Saturday, Nov. 2, at Griffith Park.

The Branchs complete the roster of regional winners who will be flown to Los Angeles for the Nov. 2 race, which begins at 8 a.m.

Other area winners were Carol Urish McLatchie and husband Jim, the Houston champions, and Barnecy and Janis Klecker, the Minneapolis winners.

The Foot Locker Partners race is a unique two-person 8-kilometer even sponsored by Foot Locker stores. Any two-person team can enter the Foot Locker Nationals. Entry blacks are now available at Foot Locker and Lady Foot Locker stores. A field of 1,000 is expected for the L.A. race.

Awards are given in five combined age groups with special awards presented to family partner teams of husband-wife, brother-sister, mother-daughter, father-son, sister-sister and brother-brother.

The national champion will win a grand prize of a vacation in Hawaii.

In 1983, the winners were Ruth Wysocki, who defeated Mary Dicker Slaney in the 1,500 at the 1984 Olympic trials, and Tom Wysocki, who also competed in the Olympic trials.
