Bahamas Smile
I must adamantly disagree with Carolyn Parker’s report of rudeness in Nassau. We were staying at the Cable Beach Hotel and attended a private dinner party at Lyford Cay. When we returned to the hotel I noticed that the large diamond was missing from my ring setting. We contacted the concierge at the Cable Beach, Vernal. He immediately called the Lyford Cay country club, waited on the phone while the search went on, and returned my diamond to my room less than one hour later.
The next day I went downtown to see if a jewelry store could do an emergency repair. This was accomplished in less than half an hour, and when I inquired as to the cost, I was told, “Just a smile will do.”
I have never encountered more honest, gracious and friendly people than those I met on my most recent Bahamas trip.
