A 14-year-old Tustin youth walking home Sunday evening was shot and wounded by a man driving by in a pickup truck, police said.

The youth, identified as William Haubert, was treated for a gunshot wound to his left leg at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and was released to his parents, Tustin Police Sgt. Mike Shanahan said.

The youth told investigators that he was walking south in the 100 block of El Camino Real about 6 p.m. when a northbound white pickup truck stopped in the middle of the street and its driver fired a single shot at him, Shanahan said.

The driver was described only as a man between 35 and 40 years old and was believed to be alone in the truck.

Shanahan said police have no motive for the shooting, which occurred near a bar and two restaurants in a commercial district of the city.
