More than 100 South Vietnamese Army war veterans, including eight former generals, met in San Jose to demand the release of 10,000 people who they contend are being held by Communists in labor camps in their homeland. Former Brig. Gen. Truong Bay said it was the first time the generals had been together since the fall of South Vietnam. Truong, now a technician for a defense contractor, said in a speech to the Vietnamese Veterans Assn. that the former generals seek to “stir the spirit of a free Vietnam.”
