State regulators ordered Caesars Hotel-Casino closed because it used an unapproved system of transferring millions of dollars deposited by a compulsive gambler. The Casino Control Commission voted 3 to 2 to accept a settlement worked out by Caesars and New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement. Caesars must close Nov. 30, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The hotel and bars and restaurants outside the casino may remain open. Caesars, which admitted its responsibility for violating state gaming regulations, must pay employees their normal wages for the day.
