Rupert Murdoch announced that Martin Singerman has been named president and chief executive of Murdoch’s News America Publishing Inc., New York, whose properties include the New York Post, Chicago Sun-Times and Boston Herald. Singerman had been president of Murdoch Magazines, which publishes New York magazine, New Woman and Elle, among others. In his new post he will be responsible for all of News America’s U.S. publishing.

John Evans, executive vice president of News America, succeeds Singerman in the magazine job.
