Alaska Gov. Bill Sheffield, recovering from a delicate procedure to clear a blocked artery in his heart, showered, shaved and greeted visitors in his hospital room Saturday, a spokesman said.

“He’s in good spirits,” said Bob Miller, the governor’s aide. “He was just greatly relieved it was over.”

Miller said Sheffield, 57, will be discharged from Providence Medical Center today in time to attend the Seattle Seahawks-Atlanta Falcons football game.
