HBC Forecast Program Will Feature Butler

Merrill Butler, a home builder for 37 years, will lead a program, “Builder Forecast ‘86,” at the October meeting of the Home Builders Council of the Building Industry Assn. of Southern California Oct. 21 at the Airporter Inn, Irvine.

Butler, principal of Merrill Butler & Associates, a real estate counseling, advisory and management firm, is a member of the board of directors of the Federal National Mortgage Assn. and of Financial Corp. of America and is past president of the National Assn. of Home Builders.

Five area scholarships will be awarded at the program. Scholarships for $1,000 will go to Jeanne Baaden of Long Beach, a student at Cal State Long Beach; Laurelee Blanchard of Placentia, a student at Cal State Fullerton, and Debra Hanks of Irvine, a student at UC Irvine.

Winners of $500 scholarships are Casey Cox of Costa Mesa, a student at Orange Coast College, and Rick Brown of San Clemente, a student at Saddleback College.

The program also will include an HBC Trademart. The program, which includes dinner, is open to the public for $30 a person; members will pay $25. Reservations may be made with the building industry association.
