Peres Offers ‘Hand of Peace’

WASHINGTON —
Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres, extending a “hand of peace” to Jordan, today offered to examine any proposal by Amman that would provide for “honorable and direct negotiations” on peace in the Middle East.
Peres, who made the statement after more than an hour of talks with President Reagan at the White House, made no mention of the Palestine Liberation Organization, whose representatives Jordan’s King Hussein has suggested are vital to any talks.
