Bombing in Orange County

Share

The tragedy of the murder of Alex Odeh in a bombing at the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee office in Santa Ana cannot be overemphasized and I want to thank The Times for its excellent coverage.

The Arab community is outraged beyond words at this latest incidence of violence against Arab-Americans. It is not only that Odeh represented us as a “man of peace” but that coverage in the American magazines and newspapers has been sorely inadequate when it comes to reporting incidences of violence against us.

You reported that President Reagan has instructed federal authorities to provide fullest possible support to local police investigation. This is not enough. Local police do not have enough experience to handle the necessary in-depth investigation of such bombings. The matter should be in federal hands until the terrorists are apprehended. All steps taken toward this apprehension should be published with regularity.
