A Reagan Administration official warned the Planned Parenthood 62nd annual convention in Seattle that members may have to stop abortion counseling and referral services if they want to continue receiving federal money. “The Reagan Administration has had a longstanding issue against abortion,” said Jo Ann Gasper, Health and Human Services deputy assistant secretary for social services. “We are opposed to abortion. We will not support any amendment in favor of abortion,” Gasper told the convention.
