Hunger in Orange County and the Public’s Conscience

Share

Recently I read in your paper where a man was given a ticket for going through rubbish in the rear of a supermarket (Oct. 3).

The reporter certainly did not present all the facts, such as the signs posted stating “no trespassing” and that it is against the law to remove items from the premises and load them into a nice three-quarter-ton pickup truck to haul away for whatever purpose.

The sad part of this story is the judge, who made news by setting back justice in our court system with a fine of 10 cents and berating the police officers who gave this man the citation.

The story also stated that this same judge is contemplating running for sheriff of Orange County.

This the people do not need. This judge has set himself up as being above the law.

The man who received the ticket indicated that he lived close to the store, but in reality it is several miles away.

I think the police in this case, and in many other instances, should be commended and not dragged down as this judge did.
