Mid-City Neighbors

In a recent article on the Berkeley Street housing project, Santa Monica Mid-City Neighbors was incorrectly identified by the executive director of the Community Corp. as being a tenants organization (Times, Oct.3).

For the record, Mid-City Neighbors is a community organization of residents and businesses united for the purpose of improving the quality of life in the Mid-City area by increasing local participation in the decision-making processes which affect the affairs of our neighborhood. Our present Board of Directors is composed of both apartment dwellers and representatives of the real estate industry, including at least two people who fall into both categories.

Also by way of clarification, while it is true that Mid-City Neighbors generally favors the provision of affordable family housing in our area, Mid-City never specifically endorsed the Berkeley Street site as being appropriate for the three-story building involved in that particular project.
