Newport Beach : Councilwoman to Head County League of Cities
Newport Beach Councilwoman Evelyn Hart recently became president of the Orange County League of Cities, as outgoing President Ruth E. Finley, a Huntington Beach councilwoman, stepped down from the post.
Other officers elected were Anaheim Councilman Irv Pickler as first vice president, Placentia Mayor George Ziegler as second vice president and Costa Mesa Mayor Norma Hertzog as state league director.
Hart has been first and second vice president of the League. She is a two-term member of the Newport Beach City Council and served as mayor from January, 1983, to November, 1984. The Orange County League of Cities is a voluntary, nonprofit organization made up of all 26 cities in the county. It is affiliated with the League of California Cities and its goal is to represent the interests of Orange County on a regional and statewide basis, sponsors said.
