Share

Atentative agreement on a teachers’ contract was announced Monday by negotiators for the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo and the Pleasant Valley Education Assn.

School board member Dolores V. Rains said a committee comprised of district staff members and union officials is now matching contractual language to the terms of the agreement reached Saturday night.

Rains would not comment on details of the agreement but said the union will probably hold a ratification vote on Oct. 29. The school board has scheduled a vote on Nov. 1.

Saturday’s agreement marked one of the last steps in a bargaining technique called “win-win.” The process began in mid-September, when both sides held a 14-hour closed session. Committees worked on several issues during late September and early October.

Both sides held a five-hour meeting Friday night and a 10 1/2-hour session Saturday before reaching agreement. In the past, negotiations using traditional bargaining concepts have taken as long as a year to complete.
