Chicago’s largest publicly held black-operated firm, concerned that a link with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan could trigger accusations of anti-Semitism, has dropped plans to manufacture household and beauty products for People Organized and Working for Economic Rebirth, a black economic enterprise that Farrakhan helped create. The decision was made after distributors expressed concern about controversial statements made by Farrakhan, a spokesperson for the firm said.
