2 Dead as Copter Hits Oil Rig

NEW ORLEANS —
A helicopter carrying nine men crashed into an offshore oil platform 55 miles offshore today, killing the pilot and a passenger and critically burning seven other passengers, the Coast Guard said.
The platform’s three-man crew and the crew of a supply boat found the bodies in the wreckage of the Pumpkin Air Inc. helicopter after putting out the fire and rescuing seven other men, Petty Officer Stacey Jaudon said.
