Rams Also Have a ‘Refrigerator,’ but He’s Currently in Cold Storage

Bill Bain is miffed that William (the Refrigerator) Perry beat him to the punch.

“I’ve been ‘the Refrigerator’ for six years,” the Rams’ own 300-pound-plus lineman said Wednesday. “They just won’t throw me the ball.”

The Chicago Bears let Perry, their rookie behemoth, carry the ball for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers Monday night in a 23-7 win.

The Rams have a short-yardage play called Special in which Bain, normally the left tackle, lines up at tight end as an extra blocker but also becomes an eligible pass receiver. The team hasn’t used the play yet.

“One of these days, they’ll throw to me,” Bain said. “It will be something special.”

Just so he’ll be ready for anything, before Wednesday’s practice for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers at Anaheim, Bain practiced taking handoffs--from guard Kent Hill.
