Chaparral and Monterey--the first two developments in the $130-million, 650-acre Bonita Long Canyon development--open today in the Bonita community of San Diego County.
The 24 three- and four-bedroom single-family houses in the first phase of Chaparral range in size from 1,509 to 2,130 square feet and are priced from $125,900 to $167,900, according to a spokesman for McMillin Development, developer of Bonita Long Canyon with Home Capital Corp.
Chaparral will have 133 houses when built out. California mission-styled design by Robert Bowlus AIA is featured in Chaparral.
The first phase of the 66-unit Monterey development features 21 three-, four- and five-bedroom single-family houses with 1,613 to 2,282 square feet, priced from $135,900 to $175,900. The architecture, also by Bowlus, is Mediterranean flavored.
First move-ins for both developments are scheduled for March. Bonita Long Canyon is in the southern part of Bonita, north of Otay Lakes Road, with access to Interstate 805 via East H Street.
Bonita Long Canyon will have 865 houses in nine neighborhoods when it is completed in the next decade. About 43% of the land in the equestrian-themed development has been set aside for parks and natural open terrain, according to builder Corky McMillin.
Home Capital is a subsidiary of Home Federal Savings & Loan Assn.
Four furnished models at each development are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 621 Redlands Place for Chaparral and 1766 Bristol Court for Monterey.
