Meese’s View of Miranda Rule

I tend to agree with Chief Gates when he writes that he is not gifted with profound thinking. Evidence of very clouded thinking followed immediately. He writes “ . . . when a person is guilty of a crime, we should be able to prove in a court of law the truth of the matter . . . “

This demonstrates that Gates believes the police determine a person’s guilt and then there is a trial to prove it. The law clearly states that proof in a court of law must precede any assessment of guilt.
