KHARTOUM, Sudan — An American arrested on suspicion of intercepting radio messages outside the Palestine Liberation Organization offices in Khartoum was released by Sudanese authorities, Sudan’s official news agency said Sunday.
The Sudan News Agency, SUNA, quoted Interior Minister Abbas Medani as saying that Alfred Daniel Clement, identified as operations manager for a firm called The Parker Co., had been freed after three days’ detention.
Medani earlier had said that Clement, whose age and home address were not immediately available, was taken into police custody Friday after being seized by PLO guards who found him using radio equipment in a car parked outside their offices in Khartoum.
