The San Diego City Council Monday gave its final approval to the study of whether a new Central Library should be located downtown at the Community Concourse as part of a proposed cultural complex that would also house administrative space for city government.
The city agreed to pay $35,000 for consulting services to determine how to raise money for the library, as well as how big it should be to be adequate through the year 2025. Total bill for the studies will be $230,000; the Centre City Development Corp., the city’s vehicle for downtown redevelopment, will provide $195,000.
