Magic to Miss Tonight’s Game
A Laker team doctor who examined Magic Johnson in Los Angeles on Monday said that Johnson’s case of shingles is much improved, but the Lakers will be without Johnson again tonight when they play the Dallas Mavericks at Reunion Arena.
Johnson missed the Lakers’ season-opening victory Saturday night at San Antonio and may not be ready to play until next week. Dr. Michael Wellman said there have been no complications in Johnson’s illness and that he will examine the Laker guard again Wednesday.
Wellman would not speculate whether Johnson might be able to play Thursday night in Phoenix or Saturday night in Oakland.
