A California Highway Patrol team found safety violations in 84% of heavy trucks stopped at a recent surprise inspection in Northern California. CHP Sgt. Larry Blood, coordinator for the inspection team, said officers issued citations to drivers of 109 of the 129 trucks stopped on Pacheco Pass on California 152 in Santa Clara County last week. There were 378 safety violations, he said, and 53 trucks--41% of those cited--were held as being too dangerous to move until they could be repaired on the spot.
