Baldwin Park : School Enrollment Climbs

Share

The Baldwin Park Unified School District has 14,000 students this semester, an increase of 370 over last year’s enrollment. A spokesman said the district has had a steady growth of about 3% a year for the past five years because new housing is attracting young families.

There are 8,273 children in Baldwin Park’s 12 elementary schools this year, about 200 more than last fall. The four junior high schools have 2,062 students and the two high schools have 3,635 students, both slight increases over last year’s enrollment. The district has built several new classrooms at existing school sites to accommodate the growth, which is expected to continue next year.
