General Dynamics Corp. reported that its earnings for the third quarter and first nine months of 1985 increased slightly compared to the same periods in 1984.

The defense contractor said earnings during the third quarter rose to $100.6 million from $93.9 million during last year’s third quarter. For the first nine months of 1985, General Dynamics earned $282.1 million, compared to earnings of $256.2 million for the same period in 1984.

The company said the earnings figures did not include the 1985 performance of the Quincy Shipbuilding division, which will be closed in 1986.
