Medal of Honor

Share

As our outrage at the murder of Leon Klinghoffer runs high D’Amato and Weiss are proposing that he be awarded the Medal of Honor. I feel tradition dictates that award should be reserved for military men and women who act gallantly in the face of an enemy. But surely Klinghoffer acted as gallantly and courageously as our most decorated heroes. And, for him too there should be a long remembrance. I suggest that instead of the Medal of Honor, Congress create a “Leon Klinghoffer Medal of Courage” to be awarded to Americans who demonstrate the kind of courage he did. Of course, Klinghoffer should be the first recipient.
