Hegg, Howard, Berglund in Turkey Climb

Steve Hegg of Dana Point, Olympic individual pursuit champion; John Howard of Encinitas, land speed cycle record-holder, and Marianne Berglund of San Diego, former Swedish world road racing champion, are among the top entries in the eighth annual Turkey Climb bicycle race scheduled at 9 a.m. Sunday in West Los Angeles.

Riders will compete on a steep grade at Sepulveda Boulevard and Mountaingate Drive, rising one foot for every five feet traveled over the mile course. There will be competition for “Sunday riders” as well as the nationally known riders.
