Padres Promote Four Players to Roster

The Padres added four minor league players to their major league roster Tuesday.

Promoted were left-handed pitchers Ray Hayward, 24, and Ed Vosberg, 24, right-handed pitcher Candy Sierra, 18, and catcher Benito Santiago, 20. The Padres now have 38 players on their roster.

Hayward was 11-10 with a 4.00 earned-run average in 28 starts for the Triple-A Las Vegas team. Vosberg was 9-11 with a 3.91 ERA in 27 starts for the Double-A Beaumont team and Sierra was 3-6 with a 4.74 ERA in 23 games for Beaumont, including 16 starts. Santiago batted .298 with 5 home runs and 51 RBIs in 101 games for Beaumont.
