Spanish Air Traffic Controllers on Strike

MADRID — A 48-hour strike by Spanish air traffic controllers Wednesday brought many flight cancellations at Madrid’s Barajas Airport, officials said.
A spokesman for the state airline Iberia said the carrier canceled eight European and 42 domestic flights Wednesday, while a similar number will be suspended today barring an agreement on wage increases.
The domestic carrier Aviaco has canceled 18 flights for Wednesday and today.
