Williams Charges Are Reinstated

A Louisiana appeals court reversed a judge’s decision and reinstated bribery charges against former Tulane basketball star John (Hot Rod) Williams, clearing the way to put him back on trial.

New Orleans District Attorney Harry Connick said he hopes to have the star center back in court before the end of the year, even if Williams’ lawyer appeals to the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Williams’ trial in August was abruptly ended after two days of testimony when Criminal District Judge Alvin Oser declared a mistrial on the grounds of prosecutorial misconduct, and dismissed the charges against Williams.
